Kick-off of the internationally recognised photo competition showing the beauty of our world

Whether portraits or spectacular landscape motifs - thousands and thousands of exceptionally aesthetic photos taken by international amateurs and professionals alike make the CEWE Photo Award one of the most recognised and popular photo competitions worldwide. Under the motto, "Our world is beautiful", the CEWE Photo Award starts today in its fifth edition. After a record number of more than 600,000 entries in the last competition, CEWE is again expecting a high number of participants over the next 12 months. The 1000 first-place winners can look forward to prizes worth a total of more than 250,000 euros. The SOS Children's Villages worldwide have already won: CEWE donates 10 cents to an educational project of the children's relief organisation for each photo submitted.

Especially in our current times, the motto of the CEWE Photo Award "Our world is beautiful" is of immense importance: We find beauty on our doorstep, in architecture and above all in nature, which shows how special and worth protecting our world is. All the more important to observe and capture these aesthetics and the magic of the moment again and again from new perspectives. Amateur and professional photographers now have one year to submit their best motifs to the world's largest photo competition. There are ten categories to choose from: "Landscapes", "People", "Nature", "Architecture and Technology", "Sports", "Cooking and Food", "Hobby and Leisure", "Animals", "Travel and Culture" and "Aerial Photography". Each participant can submit up to 100 photos during this period. Every month, three additional monthly winners are selected, each of whom receives a voucher for CEWE photo products worth 100 euros.

"The record participation of more than 600,000 photos submitted in the last competition and the worldwide press response from numerous nations have shown us that the CEWE Photo Award has not only established itself in the international professional photo scene. The competition has long since reached a broad spectrum of photography enthusiasts worldwide and, with its motto, contributes to conveying a feeling of hope and confidence even in challenging times," emphasises Dr. Christian Friege, CEWE CEO. Friege is convinced that, "In view of the reawakened joy of long-distance travel and the opportunity to discover the remotest corners of the world, we are expecting more competition entries than ever before,". Next year, a top-class jury will again decide who will win the coveted trophy - the CEWE Photo Award 2023 - in the respective category and who will secure the overall victory.
