Sarah Osterloh, trained Media Designer R&D Department
CEWE is always ahead of the pack for me because everyone here is friendly and helpful.(Sarah Osterloh)
On completing my extended vocational school leaving certification, I was clear that I wanted to join CEWE and complete an apprenticeship there as a Media Designer. I had only heard good things about the company and for me a large company is much more interesting than a small 2-person company.
Yes, and everything I had heard turned out to be true. Everyone was helpful and everyone was friendly. You can openly discuss problems here without any concerns and problems are immediately dealt with.
One of my most exciting projects is definitely the design of a training folder for the new apprentices, which contains information on fair treatment of other employees, rights and obligations, occupational health and safety and much more. A number of apprentices worked on this project with me so that precise planning and work delegation was called for. Everyone was really impressed by the finished product and praised everyone involved.
And then there's also another really great project: every Media Designer in the Web Design Department is given the task of designing the look of a fictitious website on which photographic products can be sold. The complete design – from the logo to the photos and writing – are up to us and we have to compile them ourselves. The website is then presented to the entire department at the end of the apprenticeship.
