Digital Location Lower Saxony Award

In June 2019, CEWE was the first company to receive the ‘Digital Location Lower Saxony’ award from Lower Saxony’s Minister for Economic Affairs Bernd Althusmann.

The initiative acknowledges organisations that have made a special contribution to successful digitalisation in Lower Saxony. CEWE has mastered the transformation from the film photography business to the digital sphere in an exemplary fashion. The ‘Mobile & Artificial Intelligence Campus (MAIC)’ has been set up to benefit also from future technological opportunities. These competences and the company’s regional commitment make CEWE a pioneer in the field of digitalisation. The organisation’s activities in Oldenburg are set to provide for safe jobs in Lower Saxony also in the future, and to promote the research location.

Christian Friege, CEWE’s former CEO, says: ‘The award shows that the state government is aware of and supports dedication to digitalisation in Lower Saxony. We are happy about this recognition of our philosophy to always lead through innovation. Oldenburg is a good place for innovation, especially in the field of artificial intelligence, and this is the case thanks to good cooperation of business, politics and administration. We want to use this competence and to further build upon it.’

‘The digital world in Lower Saxony has no limits. It is impressive to see how companies from Lower Saxony are involved in shaping the digital transformation. This enables them to contribute to strengthening Lower Saxony as a business location. And this ultimately gives rise to jobs for the future. With our ‘Digital Location Lower Saxony’ award, we want to raise awareness of these outstanding achievements in the area of digitalisation.’
